Herniated Disc

A herniated disc is a common problem that millions of people suffer from. When intervertebral discs work as shock absorbers. If they rupture, it can become very painful. Some of the symptoms of a herniated disc include dull or sharp pain between the neck and shoulder blades, radiating pain down the through the arms, hands and fingers, and a feeling of numbness or tingling in the arm or shoulder. North Jersey Brain and Spine Center is a rehabilitation and physical therapy center that can help patients that are suffering from herniated discs and other movement disorders.

Herniated discs can often be treated without surgery. Along with heat and cold therapies, anti-inflammatories and and other medications can help to relieve pain. Several types of physical therapy can be applied, and in cases of extreme pain, epidurals may be used. If these treatments do not work, surgery may be necessary. Our neurosurgeons have access to four major local hospitals. Most patients get out of bed on the same day of the surgery. The pain will gradually decrease and patients are generally discharged within two days.

If you are suffering from a herniated disc, North Jersey Brain and Spine Center can help to relieve your pain through treatment. Contact us to schedule an appointment.
