Acoustic neuromas are brain tumors that are found in one out of a hundred thousand people. They are generally benign because they grow slowly and are not cancerous. There are generally three types of treatments used in acoustic neuroma:

  • Observation
  • Radiation therapy
  • Surgery

In some cases, a hearing aid is all that is necessary to treat acoustic neuromas. If they grow at a steady rate, radiation therapy may be necessary. In cases where the tumors grow at a rapid rate, surgery may be needed.
